Pisco, aug. 20 (ANDINA).- Eight thousand affected inhabitants from the provinces of Chincha, Pisco and Ica will start reconstruction works in their cities within the framework of the “Building Peru” program, announced today Labor Minister Susan Pinilla.
She pointed out that in Pisco, the most devastated province by wednesday’s earthquake, these works will start tomorrow morning by four thousand local inhabitants.
Pinilla stated that the most needy people will be hired to start cleaning and removing debris activities of the quake-ravaged areas in exchange of a weekly payment in advance.
The Minister also said that other four thousand affected from Chincha and Ica will be registered to start as well a reconstruction phase in their cities. People who support little children or handicapped relatives will be the first ones to be hired.
“Registration has began with groups of representatives we have in the area. Through this “Building Peru” program, we manage to create a dynamic mechanism for hiring. The total number of inhabitants to reconstruct the cities is eight thousand,” she added.
Minister Pinilla stressed that this program will be launched tomorrow at 11am in Pisco in the presence of Peruvian President Alan García; while works in Ica and Chincha will start next Friday.
She stated that this program is meant to clean and reconstruct the quake-ravaged cities as it creates decent jobs and money income for the people the most affected after the powerful quake that reduced the south of Lima to rubble.
“Within two or three days we hope to remove all rubble in the area. Thanks to this activity, people will earn their income through work and we are certain that Pisco will look prettier than before,” she concluded.
