Lima, aug. 28 (ANDINA).- As part of the German Cooperation, many german organizations that have been developing projects in Peru for several years, presented a development plan, which aim is to benefit the victims of August 15 earthquake which left thousands homeless.
The major aim of the organizations is to restore basic services in a joint work with governmental organizations. These relief efforts seek to respond to the impact of the earthquake on people living in the southern cities of Peru.
In the first stage the aid consisted of the supply of drinking water, food, medical aid, and tents. So far, the German Cooperation has donated over US$3 million and this amount will continue to increase as they provide more relief.
One of the organizations taking part in the development plan is the German Red Cross that has provided 1,000 families in the provinces of Paracas and Chincha with water, shelter and basic hygiene kits.
German Agro Action has also assisted 1,000 families in the provinces of Ica, Pisco, Huamay, Huancano, Chincha and Cañete by making contributions of more than 400,000 euros. As well, Kreditanstalt für Wiederaufbau – KfW whose contribution reaches 1,300,000 euros, has been developing reconstruction projects for the drinking water supply network in Pisco.
Other German organizations such as GTZ (German Cooperation Agency for Development), Humedica International and the German Embassy in Peru will continue to provide support to earthquake victims in Chincha, Cañete, Paracas, Huancavelica and other quake ravaged areas.
